It lifted its huge hand and brought it down.

I Dodged, the Talent taking control of my body and throwing me backward out of the way of its attack. Its hand buried deep into the snow, I wasn't expecting it to swing its second arm. This time it caught me on the side of the head, its claws catching my jaw lifting me up and throwing me like a rag doll several feet, I hit the snow with Maelstrom worriedly crying my name and to the complete decimation of my Endurance in one hit.

It was even stronger than the Soulless.

Struggling into to sit up and pushing back as the creature crawled forward baring its teeth I Summoned the two Spells that would help, the first was ready instantly, and I threw out my hand Casting the Spell as my palm connected with the lanium in the forehead; it reared back shaking its head.

I had only used Stun in my training circle against Parelias, but I was grateful for the constant two days of practice that allowed me to Cast it so confidently. I scrambled to my feet and ran, Casting Slow as soon as the Spell had pooled and was ready. Nalius would have been proud of my sprint, with Maelstrom's commentary and several casts of Slow I somehow managed to keep ahead of the lanium.

I fled through the Rogues' building, hoping that the few minutes I had been gone was enough time for Elifix to do what he needed to. The stone and small doors offered more protection and I was relieved to see the back of the cabinet already open and several candles lit the way into the shaft.

I darted inside shoving the door shut and fell backwards, without Endurance to help maintain the effort of the sprint the energy had nibbled directly out of my health. I hurried down the shaft reaching the iron door at the same time as Elifix coming the other way. Relief lit up his features an instant before I shoved him through the iron door and threw it closed locking the bolts top and bottom.

"Amelia. What's wrong?"

"There are two."

"Two?"

"I need to eat."

Eating would restore the natural energy I would need to restore the Endurance I had lost.

"What happened?"

"It slapped me. I don't recommend it. If that thing doesn't kill me, Parelias will."

"Eat," he agreed.

I followed him down the corridor, which opened into a large room. The Rogue who had found and abused these tunnels had turned them into a private paradise all of which had been left behind when the city had moved south. The room was lavishly decorated, even if it was covered in dust and lit only by a few candles that Elifix must had scavenged himself. In the middle of the room was a very frightened girl with short blonde locks of hair and lovely deep green eyes.

"This is Juy," Elifix said, his voice warm and gentle, reminding me that being frightened myself in front of the girl wasn't an option.
